Buckingham Palace said that US President Trump has formally accepted King Charles III’s invitation to pay a state visit to the UK in September. This will be the second time that Trump has received the highest honor offered by the UK to visiting dignitaries.
A statement from Buckingham Palace said that Trump and First Lady Melania will visit the UK from September 17 to 19, and Charles III will receive them at Windsor Castle.
Trump made a three-day state visit to the UK in 2019 during his first term, and was received by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The BBC said that traditionally, second-term presidents are not invited to make state visits, but to have lunch or tea with the king.
