The White House announced that President Trump will deliver a national address at 9:00 PM Eastern Time on April 1—or 9:00 AM Hong Kong Time tomorrow—to provide a significant update regarding the situation with Iran.
Speaking to the media earlier at the White House while signing an executive order, Trump stated that the United States might conclude its military operations against Iran within two to three weeks, as there is no longer any justification for the U.S. to continue doing so. He emphasized that he has only one objective—to ensure that Iran does not possess nuclear weapons—and that this objective has already been achieved. He noted that U.S. forces are currently completing their final missions, a process he believes could be finished within two weeks, or perhaps just a few days longer.
Trump further indicated that while a potential agreement with Iran might allow for an even earlier conclusion to hostilities, the United States is prepared to end the conflict regardless of whether or not a deal is reached with Iran. Regarding the issue of restoring navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, Trump asserted that the United States bears no responsibility for the strait; rather, he argued, that responsibility lies with all the nations that rely on the waterway for transit.
