Police say a car drove into a crowd watching a parade in a small town in eastern Netherlands on Monday evening, injuring nine people, at least three of whom are seriously injured. Local emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, and several trauma helicopters were deployed. The incident occurred while people were watching an annual illuminated parade along the street.

Police said the initial assessment is that the incident was not deliberate, but an investigation is still underway. Police said the driver was a 56-year-old woman from Nunspeet who sustained minor injuries. Authorities said the woman has been detained as per standard procedure for serious traffic accidents, adding that no further details are available at this time.
