According to a Reuters report on August 18, U.S. State Department officials said the Trump administration has revoked more than 6,000 student visas for overstaying and violating regulations, a small number of which were for “supporting terrorism.”

The State Department said approximately 4,000 visas were revoked for violations committed by the holders, the vast majority for personal offenses, but other offenses included driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, and burglary. An additional 200 to 300 visas were revoked for “terrorism.” Regulations define the prohibition as “engaging in terrorist activities” and “having a specific connection to a terrorist organization,” but the U.S. did not disclose the specific organizations supported by the students whose visas were revoked.

此举是特朗普政府持续打击移民和国际学生的一部分。今年早些时候,特朗普政府暂停了国际学生的签证预约。当 6 月重新开放预约时,它宣布要求所有申请人披露他们的社交媒体账户,以加强筛选过程。
